What is Windows7 Loader ?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Mark-a-partition-as-active

"Marking a partition as active on a basic disk means that the computer will use the loader (an operating system tool) on that partition to start the operating system."

"Do not mark a partition as active if it does not contain the loader for an operating system. Doing so will cause your computer to stop working."

But once I tried to figure out how to tell if there is the loader on the specific partition, it took me into the endless loop. What actually is this loader then ?

As you like. The bootloader of Windows 7 is called "bootmgr", see my previous post. To view it, you must uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" (which is checked by default) in "Folder Options". "NTLDR" was the bootloader of XP, and isn't part of Windows 7. If "my system partitition" refers to the 100 MB "System Reserved" partition which Windows creates on a new harddrive, if that contains no OS, you must unhide it, too (check "Show hidden files, folders and drives" in "Folder Options").

Your alternative would be to go seek the knowledge you are missing - may I recommend a book store or perhaps a Bing or Google search?

If I may suggest, anyone who is not certain how to determine which drive partition is active and/or contains an OS loader, should probably not be fiddling with partitions and partitioning software.

    Yeah, that helps so much..
