original title:.vp3 files

I am trying to install embroidery software that came with my new sewing machine and although the software drivers seem to have installed ok I cannot access the embroidery designs because the computer says it cannot read .vp3 files.  Why can't it read them and how do I make it read them so that I can use them on the machine.  Anybody got any non-computer speak answers please.

    Hello unfriendly computers,

I am not very familiar with the .vp3 extension but do know it is an extension that Pfaff usually uses. Look at the link below as it gives ways to get the .vp3 onto a Windows machine.

Your program may not be compatible with Windows 7. Check and see if you can use Compatibility mode.

Compatibility mode is in-built on your computer, when you right click on any application or program and select properties, you have a compatibility tab.

In Compatibility mode we can options to manually change the settings.

If you have problems with a program and it worked correctly on an earlier version of Windows, select the compatibility mode that matches that earlier version.

Run this program in compatibility mode for:

Select the Compatibility tab: You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility

Refer the below link for more information on the same:Make older programs run in this version of Windows:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

Please let us know if this helps resolve your issue.

    Sincerely,

    .

The .vp3 format is used by several different manufacturers such as Husqvarna, Viking and Pfaff.

You might try the link below:

    www.husqvarnaviking.com/ca/en/media/pdf_**files**_ca/Instructions.pdf

Otherwise, I would contact the embroidery manufacturer for further assistance.

    Thanks.

Hi thanks for that, I tried it and found that .vp3 is not in the list of file extensions and neither are any of the others associated with the embroidery program, so I have the feeling that this is either going to get very complicated or it is not doable.  I thought windows 7 could do everything.

    Try the following:

    1. Open My Computer
    2. At the address bar on the top of the window type Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations
    3. Scroll till you find .vp3 in the name column
    4. Click "Change Program"
    5. Click "Browse"
    6. Try to browse to "Program Files" directory and look for the name of your software. There should be a folder with a name of the brand of the software of the software name (you might saw it when you were installing the software)
    7. Select file with icon and type of "Application"
    8. Click OK for a few of times
    9. Try to double-click the design (.vp3 ) you want

You have to make the right choice. As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible.
