Why can't I save animated gif from the internet to my computer?

Here is an example:

http://media.fukung.net/images/5654/seriousheads.gif

I right click and select save as, default file extension is .bmp (it happens the same in Windows XP)

Then I type "seriousheads.gif" in file name bar

However, this method only works in Windows XP. In Windows 7, I can use photo viewer to see the first picture in the animated gif but when I use IE8 to open the gif file, it appears as a dead link.

    Windows can't open .GIF files?

If Windows is unable to open files with the extension .GIF you may not have the appropriate program installed or, you may have registry errors

You may have to use your favorite search engine or www.live.com to find a program that will allow you to download and save files as gif's.

    This should resolve your problem.

Let us know if these steps resolve your problem.  I hope the information is useful.

    Regards,

Thanks for your reply. I just wonder why can't a powerful Windows do this simple job? Saving an animated gif is really technically difficult?
