Download PartedMagic or Gparted...both are linux/Gui based ISOs. OYu burn them on CD using program called ImgBurn.

Use either of the partition program to see if you have a hidden System Recovery partition.

In some case, you can make a copy of the Hidden Partition ONCE with a program (usually associated with a folder called SoftThink).

I  use Paragon Hard Drive Manager Suite, which offers more than just backing partition or creating partitions. Some advantages are: partition wipe, defrag $MFT, trucnate $MFT, rearrange cluster size, etc...too many functions but I simply use for backing up drive. They may have 30- or 45-days trial that you may want to try before buy. Norton Ghost, Acronis Disk Director are simlar category of programs. I am not recommending any programs as I have no interest in promoting one over the other program.

You mean you want to install the Windows Backup software?

I recommend *not* doing that and finding a better application/method.  Make it easy on yourself - get something like te Seagate Replica 500GB - it'll backup multiple computers, do it completely (more complete than most software packages) and you will have to know *very little* in order to make it work.
