Windows 7 Event logs ID List

I’m looking for a complete list of ID codes for the Windows 7 event Logs, especially System logs.

I stumbled on to one on the web not long ago, but now can’t find it, and didn’t realize how difficult it would be to find again.

I’ve found a list for Win 2000 (not the same) and a few scattered codes for other Os’s, and I found the MS page where I can search for codes but that doesn’t even find the codes below that are actually listed in the system log.

But I'm not looking to search for a single code, I'd like a list, to know what is available to trigger tasks in Task Scheduler.

For instance:

Windows 7 Logon code, from the System Log and is ID: 7001

Windows 7 Logoff code, from the System Log and is ID: 7002

Though these are in the system log of Win 7 machines and do work properly to trigger tasks in the Task Scheduler, according to my searches in Microsoft they don’t exist or point to an Office error or something, except for the one list I found (not on MS site I think) and can't find again.

Any ideas?

Most of my experience with Event Viewer has been with Windows XP. I am not aware of any specific lists for Windows 7. It has always been the case that you have to identify clues and to see where they lead. Event ID has the most comprehensive list but it was always only been a useful tool. Google is another good tool. Many Windows 7 errors will have similar meanings to those in Windows XP but there are additional error codes peculiar to Windows 7.

A caution. Avoid looking at Errors in isolation. Look at what leads up to the Error. Also try to eliminate earlier errors, if they exist, so that you can isolate individual errors.

    Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

Thanks for the reply Gerry, but eventid doesn't find these codes as they relate to Win 7, and the microsoft link is for error messages, which these aren't, but it doesn't find them either, and these are just straightforward logon/logoff codes not even something exotic.

Still a list of codes would be nice, since I want to know what is available as well as look up listed events.

I have ID code lists for XP and for win 2000, just can't find them for win 7, which, unfortunately, uses different codes, except for the list I found and can't find again :-(
