Hello,

I just installed upgraded to windows 7 and went to NVIDIA and updated my video card driver for NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS.  The card continually causes videos to go out and the computer to crash.  Any ideas?

Thanks

    Hi smb1087,

    1. Did you install the chipset drivers before doing the video drivers?
    2. Are you getting any error messages or error codes?

You may try to uninstall and reinstall all the Nvidia drivers from programs and features and device manager and check.

Step 1: Uninstall the sound drivers from Programs and Features

    a. Click start

    b. Type appwiz.cpl in Start Search

    c. Search for all Nvidia driver packages, Right click and uninstall.

    d. Restart the computer and check.

Step 2: Uninstall the drivers from Device Manager.

    a. Click start

    b. Type devmgmt.msc in Start Search and press Enter

    c. In Device manager search for the device, right click on it and select the option uninstall.

    d. Restart the computer and check.

Also refer the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for Nvidia:

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Hi

I have been having the exact same problem aand have not been able to use my ASUS V2S laptop since then.

It had all started with a wondows update of my NVDIA driver for windows 7.

Since then, I have restored the computer many times, booted from startup disk, installed from image, fresh clean windows install,  nothing seems to work. The end result is same grainy screen and when i connect my laptop to TV, it shows me one of the following errors:

    1. Startup file repair
    2. Major hardware crash

Please let me know if there is a solution

    regards
