Compress picture settings

I compressed several pictures for email messages and now when I open my pictures on my computer, they are blurry - how do I get them back to the original? Do I have to change the size of the file? How do I change the file size (email message) to documents? Any help would be appreciated...

How_exactly_did you compress the files and are these

your original files or copies?

If the original files have been overwritten with the low

resolution compressed version they may be non-recoverable.
