When attempting to install the software for the router (F5D7230 -4 ), I am receiving an "Unable to locate and load Drivers" error.  Please advise.

Most routers do not require any drivers.  The CDs included with several router models are just a program that will take over the management of the router settings.  You do not need to use these CDs.  Read the user guide and follow the possible method of manually setting up the router.

If it is a belkin it should be plug n play.  the problem sounds like windows is not handling the assignment between drivers and USB plug n play devices.  i think it is a design problem with windows 7 -- it can handle only so many usb devices before it begins to refuse to recognize usb devices.  i bet if you were to reinstall windows and just plug in the belkin router it will work fine; only you will have had to reinstall everything you would have lost if you didn't back up before reinstalling windows.

I should have stated that I had already checked the compatibility.  Thanks for verifying that for me.

The link that you supplied ended with a firmware update for the router (i have already completed this step).

There was no "driver" download available for my PC that i could see, but in the interests of full disclosure, i have been known to overlook the obvious.

I would like to say thanks for any time that you spend (and have already spent!) helping me, i really appreciate it.

The version number is 6 (sticker= "ver. 6002").  the series is "G" and the model isF5D7230 -4 .

I have already performed a Windows Auto update on drivers today and restarted my system.  That did not fix the driver error.

    Thanks again!    -adam

    Look here:

    http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/product/list/q/routers/

and follow the ridiculously convoluted guidance on the "Help me find my model" link. If you're lucky you may find the drivers you need.

If you are still struggling, please give the exact version no. as on the bottom of the of your router.

The MS Windows 7 Compatibilty page says that your route is compatible with Windows 7.
