Hello mnaveen.kumar,

Look in the registry to see if this key has been created. Sometimes, the installer does not give permission to this key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.

You can try and manually create the key to see if that will help.

Please reply back and let us know if this helps.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

    Hello mnaveen.kumar,

    • What's the error message that you get while installing other software on your computer?

Try installing the application as an administrator and check.

How do I run an application once with a full administrator access token?

Follow the suggestion given in the link below to install the application successfully.

this is not a solution, it does'nt work because VMware, Inc. will not be accepted as a valid key.

Its strange that there is no solution on both Microsoft as well as VMware sites..., and the question posted in Nov 2010.

    waiting for a favourable reply...

I have the same issue but this is the first time i'm installing vmware workstation on this system. Checked that there are no existing keys. However when I tried creating the key "VMware, Inc." manually, it throws an error that the key cannot be renamed.

I'm not sure what is going on but it throws the Error 2 if I run the installer as administrator or logon as administrator and run it.

    Can you please help!!!
