Unable to print a picture from Windows Photo Viewer

I want to print a photo from a file of pictures.  They are viewed with Windows Photo Viewer.  After clicking on print, another window opens with the message, "Getting ready to print," but it closes about 3 seconds later.  Nothing prints.   I have done this in the past with no problem.  I am able to print from the internet and from Word with no problem.  I can also scan and fax.  No error message appears.  I have Windows 7, 32 bit.

    Hi LibraryKnit,

You may try to install printer inside of Windows Photo Viewer and check if it helps you fix the printing issue . Follow the steps below to install printer in Windows Photo Viewer:

    a) Open Windows Photo Viewer and click on Print option.

    b) Under Printer box, select Install printer.

    c) Follow the wizard to install the local printer.

    d) Select the printer, paper size, print quality, print style, and number of copies and click Print.

I too have this problem and this resolution doesn't help at all. I followed these steps but it states the printer is already installed. It tries to rename it as Copy 1 but i do not want to have that happen as i will always have to choose the copy 1 when printing from Windows Photo Viewer.

It always used to work up until a recent update. Any other ideas?
