Try switching the cables, if they are of the same type.
I think a damaged cable is the problem.

I am trying to set up 2 displays (extend the desktop mode) and when I connect both, I do recieve an image on both screens however, One of them is purple/pink in colour.
I have swithced the monitors round, it is NOT either of the monitors, they bot work fine... and the cablesAREsecured into both the montiors and the computer ports.
Could it be the video/graphic card which is the problem?... If so, how can I check for these errors?
Thank you to all who respond!

Hi stevepayne1994,
1. Were you able to connect the external monitor to the laptop earlier or is this the first time?
hat you tried connecting?
**Method 1:**The pink hue might be due to lose connection or due to connector or port pins getting damaged. Connect the external monitor to the VGA port on the computer properly. You may check if the external monitor works fine with another PC, so that we can rule out the monitor or bad cable as the factor. Also connect the desktop to another external monitor if possible and see whether the issue persists.
You may troubleshoot for the device and check if there are any issues –
a. Click on Start and go to devices and printers.
b. Now right click the monitor and click on the option troubleshoot and check if it can detect and resolve any issues on its own.
You may refer to the below links for further details -

Method 2:
**If the issue persists, I would suggest you to check for the latest display/video card driver.**You may first try uninstall and then reinstalling the display drivers. Then if the issue persists you may check for update of the drivers –
a. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
b. Click System and Maintenance, click System, and then click Device Manager.
Note If Control Panel is in Classic View, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
c. In Device Manager, expand Display Driver, right-click the display devices, and then click propertiesand under the driver tab click on Uninstall.
d. When you are prompted to confirm that you want to remove the device, click OK.
e. Restart the computer.
After the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed. Check after this procedure. Check after this procedure. Also check if you have any exclamation mark or cross marks alongside the display devices listed in device manager.
You can update the drivers using windows update or you can get the latest updated drivers from the manufacturer website. Refer to the below mentioned link and use the steps provided accordingly -

Hope this helps.
