To get the sounds, use the link I sent you:

    http://www.beingmanan.com/wp/2009/04/windows-98-plus-themes-for-windows-7/

Also, Windows 7 comes with over a dozen sound packs, even before downloading your own (for example, the Halo theme on their site has sounds from the game).  This is considerably more sounds than the precisely 3 sound packs that were included with Windows Me, 2000, and XP, so I'd say they're improving.

As always, Microsoft provides the platform or the structure, but they do not provide content.  It is up to other developers or creators to build upon that scaffolding.

I got it from microsoft site on the themes where it has cats anywhere and cats anytime. Whenever I download a theme or click on it on the personlize. The sounds are same and the desktop icons are same. Like I said on windows 98 plus more sounds there and the desktop icons change. I am not looking for a wallpaper. I just want more different sounds and different icons similiar to the windows 98 plus.

The Cats Everywhere theme uses a sound-scheme called "Garden", "taupe" window color, has no screensaver and has no custom desktop icons.

The Cats Anytime theme uses a sound scheme called "Cityscape", "frost" window color, and also has no screensaver or custom desktop icons.

The Garden sound scheme comes with the Netherlands theme. The Citiscape sound scheme is included with the Australia theme. Check in the Sound applet in Control Panel to see if either of those sound schemes have been installed on your computer.

I already had both of those sound schemes on my computer with their original themes so maybe that's why the sound changes for me but not for you. Neither of the Cat themes have any custom icons or screensaver so that's why they only use the default ones and if they don't actually include the sound clips then that explains why you only hear the default sounds.

On the cats everywhere and anytime I thought the sounds would be cat sounds. Windows 7 didn't make that much choices on the sounds. As for desktop icons it doesn't change when I download and install the cats everywhere and anytime. Windows 98 Plus were good.

    Update:

I opened the downloaded themepacks from MS using 7zip and the only things inside them were the background images and a .THEME file. When I customised one of the themes to include custom desktop icons and some changed settings, the new icon files were included in the themepack I saved but not the screensaver or sound files. The saved theme did have all the correct settings though when I re-installed it and played the sounds I'd selected.

Taking that a step further I created a custom theme using new sound files, icons and mouse cursors. All of the new files were included in the themepack file when I saved the new theme. Re-installing the custom theme included the sound files, icons and cursors plus set the screensaver and chosen color. Same when switching between the new theme and others.

My sounds nor desktop icons doesn't change when I click on a windows themes though. Like I want to go to the cat themes. There is no cat sounds. The desktop doesn't change.

I made sure to double check that they all changed before I posted that last time. Where did you get these cat themes from? (do they even include custom sounds and icons?) I'll download one or two of the themes and test them here if you post the download links and maybe the names of specific themes that you believe should work.
