Windows 7 Pro Vs. Ultimate

I suppose in theory it's possible that one version might start up or shut down a miniscule fraction of a second faster or slower if a service that's present in one version but not another needs to start up/shut down, or there might occasionally be a fractional pause in execution of tasks for the same reason, but given the memory and processor speed of modern computers I don't think it would be anything you could ever notice, or time, or document by any means available.

I have a question about Win 7. I know that Windows 7 Ultimate has several more features then Pro, but I am wondering about speed. Which version would be faster, Ultimate or Pro? Because Ultimate has more features, it seems like it would be slower. Is this true?

Nope: speed is not a factor because speed is only influenced by what you're actively using.  For example, Ultimate has Media Center while Pro does not: but since you don't run Media Center when you boot (or ever unless you run it on-demand), that inclusion has no bearing on the speed of the operating system.

The same is true for all other features included.

And if you don't mind, I'd suggest that you simply purchase Windows Home Premium edition.  The only thing youdon'tget are some of the advanced domain enterprise tools.  Unless you're going to be on a domain, you will save money and be happier without getting Ultimate.  There's not even any "Extras" anymore like Vista had.
