Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Service

I'm trying to install an HP printer on my laptop so that I can print from my laptop.  The printer is connected to my desktop.  I went into Control Panel and added the printer, but the test page won't print.  I tried the Microsoft Automated Troubleshooting Service, but got an error message that there was an unexpected problem downloading a file. Tried several times and get same message. The frustrating thing is that I have removed and installed this printer numerous times due to various issues, but have never had a problem.  Now I can't get it to work and I can't get the Microsoft help to even work.

Thanks.

Hello,

First check if the printer is compatible with Windows 7.

You can type your model number in the below link and check:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Uninstall all the hp printer drivers from the computer.

Go to hp site, type your exact model number of the printer download the latest drivers.

Once you download the latest drivers install it on the computer and check if the issue gets resolved.

This links are for reference:

Hope it helps.
