converting MOV file to play on regular DVD player![](http://i3.social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/resources/images/trans.gif?cver=2.13.0068.5)

I uploaded a video from my Nikon camera and it was saved as MOV type.   I would like to know if there's a way to convert this mov file type to play on a regular DVD player?  It plays fine on my laptop.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks!

Hi I did exactly what you instructed me to do in the previous email.

I originally uploaded a video from my Nikon camera and of course the file type .MOV was not a supported file type.  So,   I converted it to .WMV and used the Windows DVD Maker to create my DVD.  I added the file to DVD maker and in the process of burning it.....I received the error message I just gave to you.    I greatly appreciate your responses, but I'm at a loss too.

Did you try the Format Factory converter and get the

    same unsatisfactory result?

I'm wondering if you may have a problem with your

    DVD burner.

Sorry...I do not have the solution.

First, the file would have to be in a format compatible with Windows

DVD Maker. You could try importing it into DVD Maker as it is but I

suspect you will have to convert it. The .WMV format should do it...

if you need a converter there's some info at the end of this message.

Then import the converted file into Windows DVD Maker to create

a Video DVD that should play on your free standing DVD Player.

Windows 7 - Burn a DVD-Video disc with Windows DVD Maker

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Burn-a-DVD-Video-disc-with-Windows-DVD-Maker

There are many programs that can do conversions...

The following freeware is one example...:

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System

Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Format Factory

    http://www.pcfreetime.com/

(the file you want to download is : >FFSetup260.zip<

    (FWIW...when installing...you may want to

uncheck 'all' the boxes on the final screen)

If you have problems downloading the file...try the

    following direct link:

    >direct download link<

    http://tinyurl.com/4p3q5yx

First you will need to unzip the file or just open the

folder and drag FFSetup260.exe out of the folder

and drop it on your desktop. Left click it to install.

    Next...after downloading and installing Format

Factory...you may want to open the program and

left click the 'Option' button on the toolbar and

select an 'Output Folder' / Apply / OK.

(this is where you will find your files after they

    are converted)

Drag/drop your video clips onto the main screen...

Select 'All to WMV' / OK...

    Click...Start...on the toolbar...

    That should do it...

Hello....Thanks for the clarification,   Why do I receive an error message when DVD is burning?   It will be encoding and when it stops recording.   Error message:

Cannot create CD.....Error occured when burning the CD

Thanks for your response.   I was not able to try it out, because the CD I have,  is not recordable, rewritable.   I thought if the CD states CD-R, that indicates is recordable.  I greatlyappreciateyour feedback.

Just to clarify...you need a DVD not a CD.

And of course you would need a DVD burner.
