ez vinyl/tape converter problems

I'm trying to convert my old lp's with a new Ion Powerplay LP usb turntable with mixmeister software EZ Vinyl/tape converter. First I can't hear the music as I'm recording and I've went into the sounds on the control panel to make sure my soundcard is on and it is. Second the automatic separation feature that recoeds the individual songs doesn't separate all of them. Some of the songs are recorder together and there is no separation. In the instructions it states the software is for windows xp or vista. Does this mean it won't work on windows 7 and I have to download a newer version for 7?

    Hi  idcreek,

Yes, if the program manual states that it works only on Windows XP and Windows Vista then, it is not compatible with windows 7.

Method 1: You may download the latest version of the program from the link below

    http://www.ionaudio.com/ezvc

Method 2: If your computer is having problems recording sound, try using the Recording Audio troubleshooter to fix the problem. It checks for common issues, such as making sure that both a working sound card and a recording device are installed on your computer.

    Open the Recording Audio troubleshooter

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Recording-Audio-troubleshooter

If the issue still persists, you may want to contact the program manufacturer for more specialized assistance.

Thanks for the advice. In the meantime I have found a fix to the problem but not using the route you describe. I used Windows Troubleshooter then fiddled around with settings as instructed - I can't remember exactly what I did now! To find the Troubleshooter, you can just click on the Start symbol (bottom left) and type troubleshooter into the search box.

As for the issue of 'unknown artist' etc - I too found this if I access the music using Windows Media Player, which is what I was used to. BUT if you use i-Tunes, the problem doesn't arise. You will have downloaded i-Tunes in order to make the EZ Vinyl/Tape Converter work. Good luck!

Sounds settings in Windows 7 are a nightmare (but what isn't a nightmare in Win7?).

To listen to the sound while recording you need to do this:

Go to Control Panel - Sound

    Tab Recording

Select the 'Microphone USB Audio Device' - this is the turntable

    Click Properties

    Tab Listen

Check the box for 'Listen to this device'

    Hit OK twice

Now you should be able to hear the music while you're recording.

Now I need to figure out why the songs are all saved under 'Unknown Artist' and 'Unknown Album' and all the files are called 'temp nn'

    Hello,

I have had exactly the same problems as idcreek. As you recommended, I have downloaded the latest version of the EZ Vinyl/tape converter programme. This has fixed one of the problems raised, concerning the automatic separation feature. BUT the other problem remains for me.

In your answer to idcreek I think you misunderstood him/her - it IS possible to record sound but the problem is that when the record playing device is plugged into the USB port, sound replay is disabled. As for idcreek, my sound card is on (I believe).... without the USB cable plugged in, my sound system works fine. It would be very helpful to be able to hear what is being recorded as it happens. Can you help please?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi

Can I ask, did the download of the latest version of the programme solve both problems for you? For me, its fixed the automatic separation problem, but not the lack of sound when recording. Any tips?

    Thanks

    Nick
