    Hi

Well, double-clicking is the normal end expected way to run a *.msu file. It wasn't obvious from your first post that you'd already tried this and had not been successful. Double-clicking is the method described on the web page that you downloaded the file from:

        http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2b6d5c18-1441-47ea-8309-2545b08e11dd&displaylang=en

and also the method you used, last time you installed this file back in June :-)

        http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/thread/8a6b2b77-163f-482b-8b34-842ef3442428

However ... the utility which actually executes the *.msu is WUSA.EXE, the Windows Standalone Update Installer. So open a Command Prompt "As Administrator", and run this command:

    WUSA <path>\Windows6.1-kb958559-x64.msu

    to install the update.

    Hope it helps,

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

I know it´s a long time since you worked on this thread but I wonder if you could help me out.

I am also facing the same problem, but when I try to run the msu file on WUSA I find the following message: "You can only run one request of Wusa.exe." (it is a translation of mine from spanish).

Also, I tried to install the update on the command window but with no avail.

    I would appreciate any insight.

    Thank you,

    Jose

I tried just running cmd and the installer hung searching for updates on the computer.

The devil's in the detail of Andrew's answer above - run cmd 'as administrator':

press Win key, type cmd and right click on the cmd result, click run as administrator and agree that you want to make changes.  Then enter the WUSA C:\Users\Admin\Downloads.... command.

As for only running one WUSA.exe, I ran into that too.  Not sure if it's the recommended course of action but I went to Task Manager, Processes tab, clicked on Image Name column heading to order by that column, found wusa.exe, right clicked and clicked 'end process'.

    Thanks Andrew,

     Thanks for your response.

The difference between now and then is that then all I had to do was observe what was before my eyes - in this instance I just didn't know aboutwusa.exe, plus there was no pointer as to what my selection should have been. I'm grateful for the education!

Gordon, I hope I didn't give offense with my flippant reply.

    Regards,

    mgb
