Adobe Acrobat 6 compatibility with Windows 7

I purchased a new computer with Windows 7, and just noted that Adobe Acrobat 6 Standard will not load properly - has to do with the printer driver.  I searched the net and found several proposed "work-arounds" that do not work on my system, for example using "compatibility mode" in windows 7.

Question:  does anyone know how to manipulate either Adobe or Windows 7 to have Adobe 6 function properly?

It's absolutely ridiculous to have to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade to Adobe 9 or 10, when Adobe 6 does everything in need.

thanks

Sorry, no complete solution here, though this thread might be worth a look to see if there any work arounds you haven't tried yet:

    Hello Curdy,

The Adobe Acrobat 6 is not compatible with Windows 7. The recommended action to make it work would be to upgrade to higher versions. I suggest that you contact Adobe Support to help you better with your question.

You can follow the below link to contact Adobe support.

    http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/contact.html

You can install XP mode to make your version of Adobe work on your computer. You will be able to run Acrobat 6 in XP mode. You can install XP mode on your computer if you have Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise editions of Windows. Here is a link you can follow that will give you information on this:

Thanks to both of you for replying - much appreciated.  I tried the pdf printer download (bullzip) and it does work, and although it's a "work around" not allowing typical AA6 conversion of files, I'll take it.  I have Windows 7 Home edition, so the XP download won't work, and the upgrade for Adobe is $300 - bogus when Adobe 6 does everything I need.

Really disappointed that MS has chosen not to allow AA6 to work with their new OS, and AA6 really isn't that old.  I sense a little "collusion" there between the two companies to promote sales, but that's corporate america. Haven't been an MS fan for years, and no longer an AA fan as of now - lol !

    Thanks again - Curt

Just wanted to say that I have the Windows 7 Pro (so that I could download the XP functionality) and it still doesn't work with the Adobe. That really bites my butt because I paid extra for the Pro version so that I could download the XP and I still got screwed over. I require the Adobe pdf converter because as I found out the other pdf programs aren't quite pdf programs - they make 'other' versions of a similar thing but aren't visible and useable on the same scale. So now I have to pay even more money so that I can buy the Adobe upgrade. As you so - total collusion between the companies so that one has to buy buy buy. I just had to upgrade my entire system and thus far, because of all the collusion, I've had to spend well over $1000 just to get my system back up and running again after some stupid jerk managed to get through 3 (2 external and 1 internal) firewalls and mess up my system. I'm a small business that can't afford to have these companies and these virus creaters/hackers mess our systems all the time. Its the little guy that always ends up getting screwed over.
