I need some help, I have Windows XP 64 Bit and I am trying to get my Prolific USB to Serial cable (PL-2303) to work with my computer.

I installed the driver from the Prolific website without any luck. Won't find the driver online.

Need help, thanks much!

    Hi Michael J. Tritter,

·Do you receive any error message or error code when you try to work with the USB?

·What is the service pack installed on the computer?

·Were you able to work with the device previously? If yes, do you remember any recent changes made on the computer prior to the issue?

Check the device status in device manager.Follow the steps for the same:

    a. Click on start

    b. Click on run, in run box type in devmgmt.msc

    c. In device manager window, search for the device by device name and expand the drive, double click on the sub item to check if any error message or error code is listed.

    1. No errors received when I try to work with it.
    2. SP2
    3. No, just got it and tried to install it.
    4. It says: This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I tried to reinstall it without any luck.

I tried that, I had some luck with it.

It recognizes the device now, but says the Device can not start within Device Manager. Followed everything within the trouble shooter and have had no luck.

    Any other advice?

    Thanks.

    Hi Michael J. Tritter,

I would suggest you to uninstall the drivers completely with the software from the device manager, follow the below steps:

    a.    Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

    b.    Locate sound device

    c.    Right click on the device and select uninstall

    d.    Also place a check mark beside the option “delete driver files for the device”

    e.    Install the latest drivers for the device from the manufacturer’s website

You may refer the below link:http://www.prolific.com.tw/eng/downloads.asp?id=31

Adding to it, I would suggest you to install Service pack 3 on the computer that improves the reliability of Windows by installing the latest software updates - new drivers for the hardware and more.

You may download service pack 3 on your computer from the below link:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=68C48DAD-BC34-40BE-8D85-6BB4F56F5110&displaylang=en
