In XP, cannot delete files, says access is denied

Can anyone Help. I found some Static files from certain websites that I don't visit, I've tried to delete the files. But when I do , the system tells me that access is denied. I am running Windows XP Professional. How the sites got there is letting someone borrowing the computer , which will not ever happen again.  Sincerely, Merlin

    but by far the simplest way is to download the freeware program "Unlocker" which can delete practically anything...

    Please check onder Users accounts and make sure you are logged on as the Administrator.

    Hi , Gina            I had already done that and there is no malware to be found.  I usedwww.malwarebytes.org and also www.superanitspyware  free edition.  SaS found tracking cookies. I tried system restore also & that did not work.      Sincerely ,  Merlin

    If rebooting and then deleting did not work.  Let's make sure it's not Malware.  Download and scan with...
