Found the answer on Brookstone's site under IConvert 600 dpi USB Scanner...manuals

If you are a Windows 7 user..

go to Computer, Properties cick on Device Manager....In Device Manager, right click on 600 dpi Bus scanner under other devices, select Update Driver Software.  click on Browse my computer for driver software, then click browse.

In "Browse for Folder" select folder that contains this scanner driver and click ok to return to previous screen

Cleck on the next button in the window that appears and skip to finishing the install

this is in manual I got downloaded and helped me, hope it helps you

Telling consumers that they should check for ALL the drivers for EVERYTHING they use with their current Windows operating system BEFORE upgrading the operating system is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!  Do you have ANY idea how many drivers the average person has installed on their computer, most of which it's not even clear what they are operating!

Microsoft needs to do something to prevent the unbelievable stress and aggravation caused by an operating system update that makes a variety of products instantly out of date just because the manufacturer decides not to make a driver update!  Someone needs to take responsibility for the problems!

Microsoft says they're not responsible for the drivers being unavailable and the manufacturer cries that they can't possibly make new drivers for ALL of their products every time Microsoft updates their operating systems while the consumer is left with a useless product and no way to use their files unless they spend a boatload of money!  Now is when we need government intervention into this problem!  Enough is enough!!!

I also have a Brookstone scanner and just  got a new laptop with Windows7 (turned in the old XP machine which worked perfectly with the scanner)! I hav followed all possible instructions including downloading a "new" instruction book online at Brookstone's website but the instructions do not work becuase the item they tell me to "select" does not appear on the list of possible selections. This is the third thing I've had trouble with since buying the new machine and frankly I feel lke I have been ripped off by Microsoft because I cannot afford to buy new software to do the things I was doing perfectly well on my old computer! I teach online courses and at a university, but their system doesn't work with Windows 7 either! If anyone knows how to upgrade a driver for this scanner so I can get my Christmas photo gifts made I would be SOOOO appreciative!!

As previously stated, its the hardware makers (Brookstone in your case) who produce the drivers for win7 and not MS, so you cannot blame MS. Its immaterial that a device worked under winxp, win7 is radically different

Whenever you change to a new version of Windows, you need to install

drivers for printers, scanners, video cards, etc., that have been

written for that new version of Windows. And also note that you need

different drivers for a 32-bit version of Windows and a 64-bit

    version.

It's up to the manufacturer of the hardware to write and make

available for download those drivers. Especially if your hardware is

older, it may well be that the manufacturer has decided that it's not

worth his time and effort to develop drivers for hardware that he is

    no longer selling.

Contact the scanner's manufacturer or check on their web site to see

if the driver you need exists. If it doesn't, you're out of luck.

So in the future, before you do such an upgrade, be sure that you've

done the appropriate research to find out what drivers don't exist,

and therefore what hardware you will have to replace if you upgrade.
