There are programs I want to disable from the starting of Windows, how and where do I find the options to diable certain programs within Windows 7?  Thanks!

    Look in these folders:

    • C:\Users<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
    • C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu

    Un-check undesired programs in Start > Search > Msconfig > Startup .

You can also use WinPatrol 2010 or Sysinternals Autoruns to make the settings.

I had this issue on my Acer machine. Looked round for ages before realising that it wasn't Windows, but a bit of manufacturer software called Acer Smartboot, which was opening frequently used programs.

Opened Acer Smartboot and removed the programs from there.

Those folders are hidden.  To see them:

    1. Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View .
    2. Select Show hidden files, folders, and drives .
