How do I uninstall/reinstall/repair DirectX 9.0?

I had purchased and dowloaded a game from Big Fish Games. The package came with a DirectX 9.0 upgrade as is needed to play the game I purchased. I couldn't play any games I downloaded because DirectX keeps freezing. I ran dxdiag and tested it. When I tested the DirectX 3D it froze. I tried downloading the same program from Microsoft to see if that would prompt an automatic repair, but it wouldn't install it because it was already installed. I also tried to uninstall it from my add/remove programs, but it was no where to be found. I have a Wiindows XP service pack 3. How do I fix this problem?

Try reinstalling or, if necessary, uninstalling then reinstalling your video card driver. That should reset the pointers and allow it to work. Dxdiag should show your version as DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904).

Most games that install DirectX will allow you to cancel and continue with the rest of the installation. If you are already at the latest release, that is what would be best to do.

If all else fails, you would probably have a Restore Point created at the time you did the initial installation of the game. Restore to that point.

I know this is an old post but a restore point will not work for me. I need to uninstall DX 9 the engine failed to start and I got an error on the dxweb update told me to look at the log file. I did engine failed to work. My games keep giving me an error when trying to save after long time playing.

Any other way than the driver for the GT Force being uninstalled and reinstalled?

    Thanks

this would be awesome if someone actually helped
