Windows installer error message 'This patch package could not be opened', while trying to install Microsoft Office & error 'Windows installer..Preparing to install' when any application is launched.

Original Title: “Windows installer” error message.

 When I launch all most any thing on my computer, a quick message says “Windows installer..Preparing to install”, Then a window opens up called “Client Security-Password Manager and another “Client Security Password Manager-Internal error 25002”. I can remove these temporarily by clicking Cancel 4 or 5 times. This all started 12-03-10 when I started to reload offce xp for outlook.  If I wait I get "This patch package could not be opened.  Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."I do not have a system disk to restore.

    Hi,

    This problem occurs if the Windows Installer files are damaged or missing.

    You may follow this link & check if the issue persists.

    The message first appeared when I tried to update my Acrobat Reader DC. I then uninstalled it & tried to reinstall it but this message keeps on appearing after approx 54% of download. I Need Acrobat Reader DC for work.
