    Hi,

Which operating system is installed on your computer?

Masters of Orion 2 is not compatible withWindows Vista &Windows 7. However, you may try to install the game Masters of Orion 2 in Windows XP compatibility mode & check if it works fine.

    To install in compatibility mode:

    1. Right click on the setup file of the game , click Properties, click Compatibility tab, under compatibility mode, check mark “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” and select “Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)” or “Windows XP(Service Pack 2) from the drop down list. Click Apply and then click ok.
    2. Under “Privilege level”, click “Run this program as an administrator”, click apply and then click ok.
    3. Install the software successfully and restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
    4. Launch the software and check for its functionality.

Hope the information helps. Please post back and let us know.

I found this workaround on another site. It worked for me with a game with the same error.

In the windows/system32 dir there is a file called dplayx.dll, create a copy of the file and name it dplay.dll.

Another miracle from the Win 10 bugware. And of course compatibility settings do not change anything.

Could you folks remember that OLD GAMES ARE STILL OUT FOR SALE AND PEOPLE BUY THEM SO THESE GAMES SHOULD BE PLAYABLE EVEN ON THE NEWEST BUGWARE. And some people are fed up with fixing unexpected problems out of nowhere just because someone decided that something is not needed for the new bugware.

Now back to the problem. Compatibility settings do not work. Any more ideas?

I tried this but I still got this error :

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

is there anyway around this, if not, then how do I solve it?
