HP M1120N printer doesn't scan via Network!

I have installed my printer with the CD and the official Windows 7 drivers from the HP page. I can print and copy with it, but scanning doesn't work via Windows 7! The printer works via LAN, as I can't reach it from my computer with a normal USB cable.

When I click "Scan To", it opens all windows correctly, until it says: "Scanning...", but nothing will happen and the window will be opened forever until I break it.

I have no idea what I could do... I tried to repair the installation more than once, without any success.

I am using Windows 7 Professional.

Note: the scan function worked on Windows 7 Ultimate Release Candidate! I don't get that... :s

    Hi,

    Welcome to Microsoft answers.

I suggest you to Check if the device is listed under printers and devices. If not then follow the below steps:

    1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
    2. Click Add a printer.
    3. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer.
    4. In the list of available printers, select the one you want to use, and then click Next. (If your computer is connected to a network, only printers listed in Active Directory for your domain are displayed in the list.)
    5. If prompted, install the printer driver on your computer by clicking Install driver.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    6. Complete the additional steps in the wizard, and then click Finish.

For more information please refer this links:

Follow the steps below to place your computer in “clean boot”.

    1. Click the Start orb on your Desktop
    2. Type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.

    1. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
    2. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
    3. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
    4. Click OK.

When you are prompted, click Restart.  Try your media player did it crash?

If this does resolve the issue, then see the following Microsoft Article on “Clean boot” and the section “How to determine what is causing the problem” to determine which program or service maybe causing the issue.

How to set your computer back, to boot normal:

    1. Click the Start orb on your Desktop
    2. In the Start Search box. Type msconfig, and then press ENTER.

    Hi,

    I have some similar problem.

Are you sure that the firewall allows the scanner to send information ? (disuable temporyry the firewall und try once more).

Some time the 1120 have a bugg und you schould make a Reset : turn off, press simultanouly on Cancel (red button) and copy (green) and turn the printer on.

I hope It will work. (I have this problem with XP)

I have also a new computer with Win7 but I didn't find the Scan Software for the 1120 by HP. Where did you get It ?

    Sincerly

    Alain
