Installing Windows Easy Transfer from USB

I need more information regarding Windows Easy Transfer from USB.  Out of curiousity, I installed the installation folder for USB and network folder to a local hard drive folder on a Windows 7 pc.  I observed an autorun.inf file and the shortcut that installs the program.  Does opening this folder in Windows 7 with the autorun.inf automatically run the autorun.inf file?  I have concerns that I could have messed up the computer.

Can the folder be created on a USB drive and run on Windows XP?  Does clicking the installation shortcut give you a confirmation installation window?  How does one remove the program if one installs the program?  Does the installation shortcut prevent someone from installing Windows Easy Transfer on a Windows 7 pc?

    Hi A123,

An autorun.inf file is a text file that can be used by the Autorun and AutoPlay components of Microsoft Windows Operating systems.

Start Windows Easy Transfer on your new computer (the computer you want to transfer files and settings to), and then follow the instructions for using a USB flash drive or an external hard disk. During the transfer process, Windows Easy Transfer will estimate how much disk space is needed to transfer your selections. If you use a USB flash drive, use one with enough storage space for the entire transfer.

You will need to use the program and features option to uninstall the Windows Easy Transfer program from the computer.
