"windows resuming" is the message provided when the system is coming out of hibernation.

when a computer hibernates all the contents of memory are downloaded into a file called hiberfil.sys before shutting down the computer.

subsequently, when the computer is powered up, the content in the hiberfil.sys file is reloaded into memory in order for "windows to resume".

sometimes the hiberfil.sys file becomes corrupted and unusable. but there could be other factors involved that prevents "windows from resuming".

perhaps, the computer cannot initialize a hardware component, like the modem.  or maybe the file system is unstable or the disk is heavily fragmented.   it might even be antivirals or start-up programs that are unstable or improperly configured before hibernation.

the only recourse is to reboot the system and let windows start-up up normally and then you can proceed with trying to optimize your system.

Thanks v much for reply..As it worked out I pressed and held the power button for about 15 seconds so laptop completely shut down. Then it switched on as normal...However when connecting to internet via internet explorer I got a message saying "internet explorer has stopped working"..So I downloaded Google chrome and every thing seems to be working fine. Thanks again...........

That's an impossible solution if it's still stuck on the resuming windows screen. Not helpful at all . but thank you just the same.

But what if the reboot does not work?  I have tried that and it still goes to the resuming windows screen?  I have tried taking out the battery and draining the residual power as well.

the message "resuming windows" pertains to hibernation power option and has nothing to do with the battery.

    try disabling hibernation:
