This does not allow me to save in anything but bitmap format, can't do jpg, jpeg, png, tiff, etc. Working with win7x64, get this error

Paint cannot save this file

Save was interrupted, so your file has not been saved.

    file, properties, default. Close.

    I hope this fixes it.

You had probably exceeded paint's capabilities messing with pasting custom colors from other programs or cameras.

Did you read my statement? I'm having a problem simply opening paint, with a blank image that paint opens with, and saving *that* in any format but bitmap. I'm talking about as simple as that, and I discovered this problem by trying to take a screenshot, which should cause zero problems putting into paint and saving in any paint supported format.

    No camera or photos involved.

Have you tried to make a copy of it and see if the copy can be changed ?

See if this will help, it might help if you try to resize the photo to a smaller size, bmp. files can be very large, if you can edit it at all.

Some times it's best to use the medium or small picture size on your camera than the large setting.

You might even right click it and look into the properties to see if there's any issues there.

I know this is late but I tried the suggestions noted in the previous posts and none worked for me. But Paint did allow me to "save as" a .png (original was a .jpg). After I saved as .png I was able to edit the image and save it back to a .jpg.

Did you take this or these photos with a camera ?

Or are the pictures inside a document ?
