How do I enable Internet TV in Windows Media Center under Windows 7?

Internet TV is no longer a menu item in Windows Media Center.  I do not have a TV tuner card nor is it required for Internet TV.  Downloading and redownloading Windows Media Center didn't work.  Enhanced Playback will neither download nor install, and Windows Media Center cannot detect nor recognize my internet connection.

    Hi,

    ·         Have you installed Internet TV properly?

    ·         Have you installed all software depending on the service you need to watch the internet TV?

    ·         Is the region for the internet TV properly selected?

If the initial setup within Media Center has not been ran yet then some of the Internet TV options will not be available.  During the initial setup you want to choose the Enhanced Playback option, this enables Media Center to conenct to the internet for Album Cover Art, Movie Information, TV Program Guide Listings and Internet Services.

    Step 1:

To initialize Media Center Setup and configure your internet connection please perform the following:

    a)      Click the Green Button on the upper left corner or hit the Green Button on your Media Center remote control

    b)      Arrow down to Tasks, then left to Settings

    c)       Go to General then Windows Media Center Setup

    d)      Go to Run Setup Again

    e)      Choose Yes to reset preferences and Next

    f)       Click Next and Next again - Choose wether to improve Windows Media Center and click Next

    g)      Choose YES for Enhanced Playback - this option will enable Internet TV Options

    h)      Choose Next and I am Finished (unless the Internet Setup appears, if so Choose Always Connected)

    i)        Click Finish

    Step 2:

Now we will need to begin downloading Internet Connect - this content is downloaded automatically over time however we can ask Media Center to update the content now.  To do this:

    a)      Go to Tasks then Settings

    b)      Go to General and Automatic Download Options

    c)       Go to the right and all the way down to Download Now

You will receive a message indicating that Media Center will start the download

In a few minutes you will be able to go to the TV and Movies section and you will see the Internet TV option.  Selecting this option will display various clips and TV shows.

You may refer to the below links and check if the installation and all the other requirements are met –

    Internet TV is still supporoted.

What exactly happens when you run setup again? What is the exact point you get stuck at?

Try forcing an update by closing Media Center and going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click Command Prompt then choose Run as Administrator. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press enter:  start /wait %windir%\ehome\mcupdate -uf

After the above command is finished, check if you are able to view Internet TV shows. You may need to wait a few minutes before opening Media Center again.

In answer to your reply, I cannot properly install Internet TV, nor do I have access to any of the software services necessary to watch Internet TV.  Media Center cannot detect my Internet connection.  I tried running Step 1, but then I get stuck on f; I cannot select Next.  So anything afterwards becomes meaningless.  Enhanced Playback will neither download nor install.  Any other suggestions?  Everyone else who had asked similar questions would be given the same response:  Install a TV tuner card.  This would be true if I were trying to view Live TV; however, I am trying to view Internet TV through my network card.  I have recently been told that MicroSoft had cut their support for Internet TV.  Is this true?  How can I work around this dilemna?
