Need help with connecting a lapel mic to my laptop

I have connected the receiver of the lavalier mic to the mic/in on my laptop.

I have both transmitter and receiver ON and set to the same frequency but I cannot hear my voice when I try to speak into the mic.

I also have set the audio of my laptop to the maximum setting.

I can't hear anything. What's missing? Is there a special setting that I'm missing?

    Followup:

I had been under the impression that the mic/transmitter set which I purchased could be used as a tool in doing a power point presentation before an audience.

For this to have worked would have required a pair of external speakers as the speakers built into the laptop are totally insufficient.

Luckily, the organizer of the meeting brought a self-contained unit that included a hand-held and a lapel microphone.

Lesson learned: the system I had purchased was intented for voice recording on the laptop.

I hope this answer will help someone else in making the right decision.

DOuble click on the loud speaker icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (Systray) > Properties > Playback > make sure the Mic is checked and the slider is not too low.

    Should work.

    Cheers,

    Jerry
