FWIW - I also have the G55 and had problems with Windows 7 and 8 such that I have used a Vista pc as the print server. Well I finally did my free upgrade to Windows 10 and the G55 seems to work fine hooked up on USB. So for me anyways Windows 10 seemed to have a working driver.
Driver won't install properly for HP Officejet G55 on Windows 7
Just got a new HP PC and Windows 7 and our old printer doesn't seem to let the drivers install properly. It's an HP Officejet G55. I have tried everything; installing automatically (it installs all the features fine until it gets to the last driver install, then it errors with a little red cross and states that it cannot complete the installation). I tried installing manually, but it just won't do it; it gives me a 0x000003eb error and refuses to install. There is no option to do a basic feature install workaround like HP suggest. I don't really mind about the scanner features working, I just want it to print documents. It seems to me that it may be that the printer does not want to work with Windows 7. Can you help?

2011-04-07T16:00:06+00:00 I followed these instructions before. I tried again, uninstalling all printers. Again, it failed to install the drivers for the printer.

The real problem is that HP have not supported the G55 properly since the days of XP. They offer a little ray of hope by telling you that there are drivers within Vista/Windows 7, but they would like you to go out and buy a new HP printer.
You might want to uninstall anything 'printer' that shows in Devices and Printers, before trying the above link.

2011-04-07T11:10:41+00:00 There seems to be a discrepancy between the HP wbesite and the Windows 7 compatiblity site as to whether your printer is compatible with Windows 7 64-Bit. Are you using Windows 7 32 or 64-Bit?
