Problems downloading CorelDraw Graphics Suite X5 get error "Could not access file:..."

I have Windows 7 Home and am not able to download the CorelDRAW Suite X5 Trial.

I get the message, "The setup encountered problem while trying to configure your software. Could not access file: c:\ProgramData\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5\15.2.0.661\CGS15\setup.msi -- Uninstallation of the update patch is not supported. Would you like to continue?"

When I continue, it tells me that "One or more of the following minimum system requirement has not been met" but the requirements ARE met.

I've contacted Corel and they were of no help, instead, they tried to sell me the full version!

Could this be an Installer problem? I've download the 'Patch registry cleanup' but a box pops up with the following info"A productcode must be specified. Press any key to exit"

Can someone please help?

Thanks

You may have an error with the Windows Installer.

You may follow the steps from the below link: How to troubleshoot problems that may occur when you install, uninstall, or upgrade a program on a Windows-based computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651

Step 1: Check the Windows Installer Service.

    1. Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type Services and press Enter.
    2. Scroll down and find the Windows Installer.  Double-click “Windows Installer” in the Services list.
    3. On the General tab, make sure the service is started under “Service status”.
    4. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start, and then click OK.

Step 2: Unregister and re-register the Windows Installer

    1.  Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click OK .

    2.  Click Start Orb, in the start search box, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click OK . After you run this command, the operation is complete.

    1. Now, try your installation again.

Step 3: Clean any pending installations

Check the following registry key and clean any entries in the key that you find:

Go to the Start Orb, type in Regedit and select enter.

If you get the User Account Control dialog box that states, Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to the is computer?, Click yes.

Modifying REGISTRY settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of REGISTRY settings can be solved. Modifications of these settings are at your own risk.

    Scroll to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\InProgress

Check the following registry key and clean any entries in the key that you find:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

    Step 4: Check the permissions

Verify the System has Full Control on the following keys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer

Next, restart your computer and try again.

If still having problems, then create a new Administrator User account and see if the problem could be a corrupt user account.

Please reply back and let us know if this helps with your Windows Installer Error.

    Thanks,

    Marilyn

    Hi,

    1. Are you able to install the other applications successfully?

If you are able to install the other applications successfully then there is something wrong with the installation file. I would ask you to contact the Corel Draw support for better assistance.

    Hope this helps.

I tried downloading from both the US and Canadian site and bothe gave the same result.

I ran a compatibility test and it says my windows 7 home edition is not compatible wit corel.

    How can this be?

Further 'investigations' show the file "setup.msi" in the Corel Installer is not compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium.

While it runs on my Windows XP SP3 environment netbook, it wouldn't do the same in the Windows 7 Home Premium run in a Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode.

Also Not Compatible are the 2 Microsoft Update files that comes with the installer, ie.

    Windows6.0-KB974373-x64.msu

    Windows6.0-KB974373-x86.msu

The Windows Installer in Corel\Redist\msi\WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe is not compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium

So who is responsible in correcting this problem????

    Heeellllpppp!

    Hello haanny,

I just downloaded the CorelDRAWGraphicSuiteX5Installer_EN.exe trial version and didn't see an 32 at the end of the file name.

The folder Program Files (x86) is the default folder for 32bit programs, Program Files is the default folder for 64bit programs.  I would suggest letting any programs you install go to the default to prevent any issues.

You should be able to download and install the product as it would go into your ProgramFiles (x86) file by default.

With the error you are seeing,"Uninstallation of the update patch is not supported." makes me wonder if you have downloaded the correct file.

I downloaded the trial version from here:

    http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Product/1208530085783#tabview=tab7

If this doesn't help with your issue, you can post in the Corel Draw communities listed below to see if they can help with your issue.

    Sincerely,

    Marilyn

Yes I am able to install other applications.

I have already contacted Corel via chat but thery were more interested in selling me the full version instead of helping me.

Just a thought, I notice Corel's installer has a number 32 at the end of it's name. Could this mean that it is only for 32-bit machine?

If true, then that might be the answer as my machine is a 64-bit.

Can you confirm this and does Windows 7 have anything to install it in a 32-bit mode?

    Thanks
