Can't enable Media Streaming for other devices on my network?

When I try to setup Media Streaming on Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit, using Control Panel/Network Sharing Center/Media Streaming Options, I find the following odd problem.  The "show devices on:" dropdown box has no content, and doesn't allow me to select anything.  On my wife's Win 7  computer, this dropdown allows me to selcet either "all networks" or "local networks".  I discovered this error when I purchased an XBox 360 and setup Windows media Center on it.  Windows Media center on the XBox can connect to my PC and play all of the music in my Music Library through Media Center, but the XBox cannot discover my pc on the network in Music Library or Picture Library modes.  My PC doesn't list the XBox when i "View Network computers or devices", but neither does my wife's PC.

I am baffled as to how my XBox was so easily connected to my PC and continues to work flawlessly within the XBox Windows Media Center app, and yet is unable to find my PC or browse any of its content through its other music/picture/media apps.

I have no issues connecting it to XBox Live or the internet.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Follow the steps in the links below: Stream your media to devices and computers using Windows Media Player:**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Stream-your-media-to-devices-and-computers-using-Windows-Media-Player**

Change settings for streaming media in Windows Media Player:**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-settings-for-streaming-media-in-Windows-Media-Player**

Also you may try to temporarily disable Anti Virus and check if you can get the option to play to and play it on your Play Station 3.

To share you must have under 'Network and Internet' a 'Homegroup' set up with share pictures etc. with devices checked. You must also have under 'Network and Media Center' 'Share with Media Devices' the Local Network set to 'allow all'. You can easily access these via WMP12, if you look under the drop down list 'share', it's the bottom two items, just select those to go to the relative panel.

Any media you wish to share should be stored in the folder 'Libraries' under the relative category. For some reason, videos can only be accessed from selecting the 'Folders' on the PS3, if you select 'All videos' only the sample wtv file in recorded tv samples shows, which

Hope it helps.

    I removed media player via start/control panel/uninstall a program/Uninstall a program

Turn windows features on or off

Choose media features and un-tick the box media player.

Let the machine uninstall the media player and reboot, then do the same but tick the boxes media player and media center, this re-installs the media player and you can start streaming again

This did not help. I can see my WD live Plus in my device window in Window 7, but it is not available when I go to the homegroup page to modify the check the SHARE MEDIA WITH DEVICES option. I can not see my PC when using my WD Live Plus and yet I can see my wife's laptop (running Windows XP) and my network disk plugged into my router
