The Microsoft Windows XP SP3 driver for Intel Integrated Graphics card

Hi

The drivers that are an option in my downloads Center for an Intel Integrated graphics card is not a good substitute for the Intel driver version that I am using, which I have downloaded for the Intel site.

I downloaded the Microsoft version because at first, I figured that the OS would have a more diverse and more effective driver that overall, would be better then the manufacturers settings for the on-board set, simply because the OS would have adjusted to my licking and thus, be more adoptive and such.

I am wondering if the Microsoft driver version may be damaged or is not actually the best version for my on-board graphics card, and I ask this because the on-board driver that I have installed is working and the features that the graphics card has are now available.

With the Microsoft driver these advanced settings are not found, more over; display properties for the Intel version driver won't even load in screen and allow me to adjust the settings of my Intel Graphics card. I am still using the Intel Driver, yet I am interested in knowing how come the Microsoft drivers version would not.

best

    Hi,

Intel may be providing a more recent updated version of the driver in question. This would explain why the functionality of the driver provided by Intel has more functionality that the one offered through Windows Update.

The Intel provided driver may also include their third party software that assists in the advanced settings of the graphics display. The driver provided by Windows Update is primarily to ensure functionality. Most often it is more beneficial to download the latest drivers from hardware providers.

That is very interesting! Since this dell computer board didn't have a number of drivers that were recognized by the OS Windows. I had to provide the OS with a driver from the OEM.

Which at first worked and since Microsoft Center had updates for the driver I used them but found it less of a viable solution.

The third party you speak of is one such as a Wild-tangent program?

I find that somethings like that software are for web activity and not functionality of the hardware.

I simply find difficulty when using the Windows drivers substitute instead of the unknown to OEM to Microsoft update driver then to the Intel update. For sure that Dell would provide one, Intel does give it some thing that no other driver does. Yet!
