    i've gone to this and the box is ticked and also Gray'd out so i cant do anything to it!.!

    1. Search for the file  steam.exe using Windows Explorer.
    2. Right-click on steam.exe and select  Properties.
    3. Click on  Compatibility tab
    4. Untick the box for, "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and hit OK.

    After executing the instructions above just click cancel at the error screen. (prompted when starting steam.)
