It could have become corrupt in the download process. I would download the file in a different location and see if that helps.
Thanks.

Hello
I have been trying to download programmes after a recent upgrade to windows 7....most urgently windows live movie maker for a project at college.
I am getting .exe is not a valid win 32 application all the time. Tried other programmes such as quicktime and photo story and they too are giving me the same message.
I've just been on the phone to Dell who say it is is an non fixable error ?! Fantastic, so wish I hadn't upgraded to windows 7 now.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this....there must be something ?! I've tried clearing the contents of my temporary internet files etc but nothing works.
Really appreciate any thoughts.
Thank you

Getting the error: Not a valid 32-bit application can have many causes:
I have listed some of them below.
File is corrupt, bad, or missing.
File is not designed for your version of Windows:- If you're trying to run a program that is not designed for your version of Windows you may get this error.
File is a virus, worm, or other malware file. - This error can be generated by a file that is a virus, worm, trojan, or other type of malware file. Often, this will be caused because the virus scanner installed in the computer will not allow the file to be installed or run. Try scanning the file to verify it is not a virus and/or infected.
Hardware incompatibility.
- If you're getting this error during the installation of a program it's also possible that the CD-ROM drive or the drive you're installing the program from is not compatible with Windows or has drivers that are not compatible with Windows.
Hope one of the suggestions above will help with your issue.
Marilyn
Hi,
Are you trying to install the programs directly from the website?
If yes, then download the file, save it and then try installing.
If not, then download the file again and try installing.
You may also try deleting files using disk clean up and check
To delete files using Disk Cleanup:
The following procedure cleans up files associated with your user account. You can also use Disk Cleanup to clean up all the files on your computer.
1.Open Disk Cleanup by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Disk Cleanup, and then, in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.
2.In the Drives list, click the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK.
3.In the Disk Cleanup dialog box, on the Disk Cleanup tab, select the check boxes for the file types that you want to delete, and then click OK.
4.In the message that appears, click Delete files.

Hello Ollie75,
Thank you for posting to the Microsoft Answers Forum.
I would recommend doing a SFC (System File Checker) to see if you have any corrupt system files.
First, let's run System File checker to see if you have any corrupted system files.
Click Start
Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD
Click 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: sfc/scannow
This will check for any integrity violations and fix any corrupted operating system files.
Restart your system
Now run chkdsk:
Click Start
Type: CMD, from the results, right click CMD
Click 'Run as Administrator'
At the Command Prompt, type: chkdsk /r /f
When you restart your system, your computer will be scanned for errors and attempts will be made to correct them.
Hope this will help.
Let us know the outcome.
Thanks,
Marilyn

I have followed your instructions, saved windows live movie maker to computer then tried installing. I get as far as installing the messenger part of windows live but then get the error message 'one of the installation files is corrupt hr:ox800b0004
I have run the disk clean up but that hasn't helped.
I can't download the windows installer clean up utility as I get the error message msicuu2.exe.is not a valid win 32 application.
Again, I've tried saving it to my computer and then installing.
Anything I try and download I get this .exe is not a valid win 32 application message.
I don't really understand what the new user account would do?
Any other suggestions gratefully appreciated !
Thank you
