    Hi tugboat luke,

     1.     Are you using Windows movie maker or Windows live movie maker?

If you are using Windows Live Movie Maker there is no Slow Down effect available.

Only Windows Movie Maker v2.6 has this effect. I suggest downloading Windows Movie Maker v2.6 if you want to access the 'Slow down, half' effect.

To make your video slower using this version of Windows Movie Maker, you need to use the "slow down, half" effect. On the storyboard/timeline, select the video clip, picture, or title to which you want to add the effect. Click 'Tools', and then click 'Effects'. In the 'Contents' pane, click the effect that you want to add (in this case, "slow down, half"). You can click 'Play' under the preview monitor to see a preview of what the effect looks like, or just click and drag the clip onto the video or picture.

    Windows Movie Maker 2.6

    Hope this helps!

Ok, um, I just jumped through all their hooplah c**p, and then I found out how to ACTUALLY do it in Windows Live Movie Maker. :P When I clicked on a video, and clicked on the Video Tools/Edit tab, I found a tool for speed, where you can set it to as fast as 64x and as slow as .125x I don't know if this was updated between the time this was answered in the first place, and now, but if not, Microsoft support is really... Stupid. :P I've never found them helpful. Not in the slightest.

The Windows Live Movie Maker does not have the slow motion effect. As a workaround, apply the slow motions effect using Windows Movie Maker 2.6, then save that video with the effect and use the saved video in Windows Live Movie Maker.

YUP, I know one can jump thru hoops to do it like that. But, isnt windows 7 supposed to be better, etc....?? Using old 2.6 then importing into 7 defeats the concept of windows 7 moto doesn't it? Seems very Mickey mouse way of doing something...i'll just wait until they update moviemaker live or i'll bye a better editor when get the dough.
