On the Epson site have a look at this:

    Epson Perfection 3200 PHOTO

    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?oid=20882&prodoid=27766185&infoType=Downloads&platform=Windows

The Select Operating System dropdown does not list Win7, WinVista, etc., only Windows 32-bit and Windows 64-bit; hopefully this is the driver you require.

Also, there is a Note regarding 32-bit/64-bit Windows OS

    Regards,

THIS PROBLEM IS SOLVED!  AND DO NOT BUY A THING!!!!!

Go to the Epson site and download the Epson Perfection 4900 (4990) driver for Windows 7 (your choice of bits).

    Install that.

Then plug in your different/older scanner (I've done this with the 2450 & 3200!).

    Go to Devices and Printers.

    Add a device.

When offered, select to choose your device from a list.

Navigate the left column to Epson, and the right column to Epson Perfection 4900.

Force Windows to use it anyway.

    Done.

The tip-off is that all these scanners claim a "micro-step technology", ergo, SAME HARDWARE!  You just have to lie about the model and you're done.

Epson currently has NO compatible drivers for the Windows 7 64 bit OS. The driver package on their site is 32 bit only, and will not work with Windows 7 64 bit.

Your alternative will be to use the built in WIA driver in Windows 7, but it is very basic and you lose all the advanced control and features of the Epson scan software. Alternatively, you can use 3rd party scanning software like VueScan or Silverfast.

I have tried VueScan and it seemed to work pretty well, and the price was reasonable. It's a lot cheaper than throwing away a perfectly good scanner and buying a new one though!

Further to what Dennis said about VueScan, your scanner is identified in their version 9 release notes so you seem to be in luck.
