The tips were very helpful, and ran the scanner. But, unfortunately, utilities, HP Director and HP Photo & images did not work.

To scan with the HP 2700 on Win 7, after the suggested changes, I have to go through Control Panel-Hardare and sound-device and click on Printers and HP 2700 scanner that was available there. There is a great solution, but at least I take one of the best equipment made by HP, which manifest as a lack of sensitivity to the market discontinuity of its manufacture.VD Brazil

After installing a new version of Windows7 on a friends PC it did not install the scanner.I downloaded the 'basic driver' from HP and then plugged in the scanner after install. It recognised it and installed it but then I got the 'may not' have installed correctly so I allowed to run in 'compatible' mode.

The only driver available for this is up to windows vista 64bit. This is the driver that is running this machine.

Basically go to the HP download and support page. Put in the full name of the scanner in the search/identify field and it will take you through to the download. It's only 6.3 meg but it clearly names it as for WINDOWS VISTA 64BIT.

My friends scanner is working perfectly in Win7. 64bit
