Original title: Query with Windows Media Plugin

Hi there,

I would really appreciate it if you could tell me if I can download the Windows Media Player Plugin for Google Chrome using VistaX 32 system. I have tried to enter my PID and it was answered in the correct format but it keeps telling me it's wrong. The number I was using was-89572-OEM-7231861-65766. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

    Hi Susan Mathews,

    -       Where are you trying to download the plugin from?

Here’s an important note from Google Chrome Help page:

“Google Chrome supports most popular plug-ins, including Adobe Flash Player, Adobe Reader, Java, Windows Media Player, Real Player, QuickTime, and Microsoft Silverlight.”

Additionally, if you allow sites to use plug-ins and Google Chrome detects that you're missing a plug-in for a particular page, it'll prompt you to install the plug-in at the top of webpage.

    See Page tools: Plug-ins

If a page simply links to Windows media files (e.g. .asf or .asx files), you might not see a prompt to download the Windows Media Player plug-in. In that case, follow the instructions listed in the link below to get the plug-in:

I tried this and I could not download.

I use Windows 8 and suspect that's the problem.

**When will Windows 8 offer the Windows Media Player for OS 8?

    Thank you.

Thank you so much for that. I was trying to download it from Microsoft.com and it would only give me the option for VistaX64. I have now installed it as you described and it's now working perfectly. You have a great day.

    Susan
