I have looked on the internet for any information on a driver support for my Sony Digital Handycam.  DCR-TRV250.  I have Windows 7 home premium 64bit on a HP laptop.

It will not recognize the camcorder.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Hi Narcdog,

The device Sony Digital Handycam DCR-TRV250 is not listed under the Windows 7 compatibility center.

You may refer the below link:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en-us&type=Hardware&s=DCR-TRV250%20

I’d suggest you to download the Windows Vista drivers from the Toshiba site and install the same in Vista Compatibility mode and check if that fixes the issue.

Download drivers from the below link:

    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/product/DCR-TRV250

To install the drivers in Vista Compatibility mode,

    1.       Right click the installation file and select Properties.

    2.       Click the Compatibility tab.

    3.       Under Compatibilty mode, check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” option.

    4.       Select Windows Vista (Service Pack 1) or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the available options.

    5.       Click Apply and OK.

Refer the link below for more information on compatibility mode:

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

    Proceed with the installtion.

    Hope this information helps.
