How to re install a cd dvd driver in windows xp

Somehow the driver its not found in my lap top. I can't use CD or DVD's at all. Please help

    Hi Saname,

    Try installing the updated drivers for your CD/DVD drive by visiting the manufacturer’s site and check if this helps in resolving this issue:

    You may also follow this step to do the same:

    a. Right-click My Computer, click Manage, and then click Device Manager.

    b. Expand DVD/CD Rom drives. Click the device (CD/DVD) device listed that you want to update or change.

    c. Right-click the specific device driver you want to update or change.

    d. Click Update Driver to open the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the wizard instructions.

    Thank you for your reply.  I followed your instruction and received a message " there is no better software or updater  for this device" ..... after that the icon dvd/cd disapear from Device Manager. Now I can't even open the dvd slot. I will read on more on the link you sent.  Thank you anyway.
