I am trying to install QB on my computer and it is telling me that I don't have enough space.  when I do to my computer, I notice two local disks: the C disk which has 59 GB and is almost full and the D disk which has 229 GB and is nearly empty.  Why the two local disks?  Can I utilize all this space on the d disk somehow?  Thanks!

It means your sytem was supplied with a single disk, with two partitions (local disks) and win is installed on C and little if anything on D

You can move your Librarys (data files) to another location (eg D)

     http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18629-user-folders-change-default-location.html

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/moving-my-document-librarys-in-windows-7/4b7059cd-a1ef-4b56-80bf-c0ddb440db07

And when you install a program you can custom install and select a new location.

Or you can merge the two partitions so everything is on C (A better option in my opinion) but you would need a third party tool to do so (and backup your data first) eg Acronis Disk Director, to name one such tool

BTW only QB 2010 or later is win7 compatible

It is better you get in touch with QB, they will know more about the product which they support and how can microsoft be of help to you when you are installing something which is not at all connected.
