Try this:
Right click on the Desktop, click on "Personalize", on the left pane (blue) under "Task" click on "Change Desktop icons", on the "Desktop" tab, under "Desktop icons" click on the box before "Computer" to check it.

I AM TRYING TO GET TO "MY COMPUTER", BUT IT IS NOT ON MY DESKTOP.I TRIED RIGHT CLICKING ON THE DESKTOPTO CLICK PROPERTIES,CLICKDESKTOP TAB, CLICK CUSTOMIZE DESKTOP, CLICK MY COMPUTER TO CHECK BOX THEN CLICK OKAY TWICE. THESE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW IN MY BOOK IF THERE IS NO "MY COMPUTER" ICON ,BUT THESE POTIONS ARE NOT HERE FOR ME. I REALLY NEED THIS ICON SO I CAN DO MY "IT" HOMEWORK. I AM A BEGINNING FRESHMAN IN COLLEGE AND THIS IS NA REQUIREDD CLASS, I NEED SOME HELP TO ACCOMPLISH THIS PROBLEM. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!
