MirageAgent is setup as a task in my Task Scheduler as well, as part of my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop's Media software.  it launches YCMMirage.exe, which is a background process that monitors if any APs are using the virtual driver.  If it detects one, YCMMirage will launch YouCam, and YouCam will provide and share the webcam video to the client APs.

can view more information about this process at the following URL:

MirageAgent in Task Scheduler...what is this?

You may also find Mirage Agent in your Task Manager, under processes, as YCMmirage.exe

Mirage Agent is a task associated with the file YCMMirage.exe which MIGHT be associated with Cyberlink's YouCam software- which as far as I know is built in to many laptops, including my HP Envy17 which I'm using now.

The most disturbing thing about Mirage Agent is that it starts when a user logs on to windows and runs until logoff.

USER BEWARE!! Cyberlink has this up on their form

    http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/11588.page

ON THIS FORUM A USER IS POSING AS A CYBERLINK REPRESENTITIVE GIVING CREDIBILITY TO THE FILE "YCMMirage.exe" to do some nonsense task "will monitor if any AP is using our virtual driver.

Once it is detected, YCMMirage will launch YouCam, and then YouCam will provide and share the webcam video to client APs."

This post is by a user named "Emma1234" who is ranked as Newbie on their forum so DO NOT TRUST THAT ANSWER. As far as I know, AP's could be anything, and I don't need Cyberlink sharing my webcam video to any person EVER, thanks.

I disabled the scheduled task, and ended the process, and was able to run YouCam without any flaws. Furthermore, I have deleted the file YCMMirage.exe and an associated file located in the YouCam program files directory. And still, my webcam software is fully functional. I recommend removing this suspicious software from your computer for privacy and security.

As far as the file's origin being Cyberlink Corp, Cyberlink has proven difficult to contact about this

(or anything), and I am waiting on their response on the purpose of this .exe

I contacted the forum administrator. He said that Emma12345 was an employee, but is no longer with CyberLink.

I guess "APs" stands for "Applications". ;-)
