I want to use the yen symbol for my currency in a Power Point project and so it will show up in another software product  - QuickBook POS but do not necessarily wantthe whole display language of the computer to be in Japanese. any suggestions where I can add this symbol so it can be sued or how to access it since I have the language pak already installed?

    Hi

You can easily use symbols in Windows.

Open the Character Map by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Character Map, and then, in the list of results, click Character Map.

You can select the Font you wish to use at the top of that dialog.

Look for the symbol you want to use and click it to select.

At the bottom/right corner of the dialog, note the Keystroke for that symbol. (For the Yen symbol, it is Alt+0165)

    1. Press the Num Lock key on the keyboard to activate the Keypad.

    2. In the document, place the cursor where you want the Yen symbol to appear.

    3. Press and hold the Alt key and type 0165 on the Keypad. When you release the Alt key, the Yen symbol will appear where you placed the cursor. ¥

Use the same procedure for other symbols.

There's more than one way to do this. I use and recommend a little freeware background program called AllChars. This lets me type many common special characters (many of these are used in other languages) very easily, by pressing the ctrl key followed by a two-character mnemonic combination.

    As examples of how easy they are to remember, for ñ the two characters are ~ and n. For ç it's c and , For ü it's u and " And for ¥, it's Y and =

Go to http://allchars.zwolnet.com/ to download it.
