    Hi JamesJoey,

    • What is the reason for disabling BCSSync on the computer?

BCSSync.exe is part of SharePoint Server 2010 which is part of Microsoft Office 2010 suite.

BCSSync.exe is responsible for providing automatic cache refresh and data sync with SharePoint. If you are not using SharePoint or you do not want cache data to be sync, you can disable this item at start up. It is not recommended to remove the file as it's a component of Office 2010 and removing it might cause Microsoft Office 2010 to fail.

Below is the location of the file on the computer.

    %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\BCSSync.exe

Refer the article to know how to disable startup items on the computer.

One of the many reasons I use CCleaner from Piriform:

    • Launch CCleaner (right-click app icon -> Run As Admin, if escalation is required),
    • Click Tools,
    • Click Startup,
    • Single-click to select the entry for BCSSync
      • File is c:\program files\Microsoft office\office14\BCSSync.exe /DelayServices
    • Click DISABLED button, to change the Enabled value from Yes -> No.

    That's all there's to it.

Having a problem with the BCSSync going runaway and causing 15% CPU usage and getting busy mouse curser on and off ever few seconds. Stops having issue if I kill the tree of the largest of two instances that show up in task manager.

I only use access 2010. I've disabled it but will not remove the file.

    Thanks,

    James
