Go to the Control Panel and select Programs and Features

Then select Turn Windows Features On or OFF on the lfet of the window.

Go to Games and uncheck Spider solitaire

Reboot your computer

Go back and recheck Spider solitaire.

You may have to reboot again.

    Hi

I had the same problem after I started using TuneUp Utilities.

    Reinstalling Solitaire does not work!

The solution I found on another thread was:

Go to Control Panel\Performance Information and Tools\Adjust Visual Effects.

Instead of "Adjust for Best Performance" which disables numerous visual effects, change it to "Adjust for Best Appearance". All of the Solitaire animations now work.  (And I won't be playing around with Tune Ups that I don't understand again!!)

Why is it the answers are never what I am looking for?  There is no Personalization , etc. option for me to choose.  I am trying to get Spider Solitaire to animate AGAIN, as it keeps choosing not to on its own.  Why does Windows keep changing things that work well and make them issues for us all when changed?  C'mon Bill, make these people do their jobs right and stop making things difficult so that they have to  justify keeping their jobs.

You don't have to check "... best appearance". That turns a lot of little performance suckers on.

Just check :Animate controls and elements inside windows", that will take care of it.

I ALWAYS check "Adjust for best performance" which UN-checks all the detail controls. Then I immediately check:

    • Animate controls and elements inside windows
    • Smooth edges of screen fonts and
    • Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop

Works like a charm and I never had any complaints from hundreds of customers.
