The mouse freeze problem is most likely to be related to USB SUSPEND MODE kicking in as most mouse nowadays use the USB port to connect.

>>

You may want to try this out. It works for me.

>>

Go to <Control Panel> select <Power Options>

>>

Depending on which power plan you're in, either 'Balance' or 'Power Saver', select the <Change plan settings> accordingly

>>

Select <Change advanced power settings> and expand <+USB settings> by clicking on the <+> sign

>>

Expand further the <+USB selective suspend setting> by clicking on the <+> sign

>>

Set both <On battery> & <Plugged in> to 'Disabled' and click 'Apply'

yep - same problem for weeks and nothing has corrected it until now: Tossed the MS mouse and have replaced it with a very old wireless mouse with a new battery. Just uncovered the ancient darling and she works as she should - no software changes or fuss. Have been back to perfect/normal since last night to now at long last.

The sad truth is that the mouse freeze problem is back. I have searched in the forum for other solutions but so far to no avail.

I am currently using MS Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 and just to make sure that the problem is with the mouse, I swapped that mouse over to my other notebook which is also running on Windows 7. The mouse freeze problem is replicated, which never happened before for my other notebook.

Conclusion, until Microsoft is able to solve this problem, I have switched over to Logitech. I bought myself a Logitech M235 Wireless Mouse last night and keeping fingers crossed that the mouse freeze problem will go away.

Life is too short to be stressed over mouse freeze problem.
